ABOUT US
Welcome to Tim Allsop Motor Engineers, a well-established family-run business founded in 1980 by Tim and Angela Allsop. Over the years, they built an outstanding reputation for honesty, reliability, and quality service throughout the Bridlington area.
We pride ourselves on offering a friendly, personal service while providing excellent value for money, often comparing favourably with main dealer prices. Importantly, having your vehicle serviced by us will not affect your manufacturer’s warranty.
Our workshop is fully equipped with the latest diagnostic technology, and our qualified technicians ensure your vehicle is maintained to the highest standards. As a Bosch Car Service Centre, we are part of a respected national network of independent garages supported by Bosch.
As members of the Bosch Car Service network and working to a TSI Approved Code of Practice, all our procedures meet strict national standards. We are also regularly audited by the Retail Motor Industry, giving you complete peace of mind.
In 2014, following the retirement of Tim and Angela, the business was taken over by long-serving technicians Ian Coultas, Stuart Hales, and Steve Burnhill. Ian has since retired, and the business continues to be successfully run by Steve Burnhill and Stuart Hales, maintaining the same trusted, friendly service the company has been known for since 1980.
History
For the first year, the business operated from a small workshop in the town centre. In 1981, it moved to its current location on St Johns Street, where it has grown significantly over the years to now occupy almost one acre. In the early days, Tim and Angela ran the business on their own, but as demand increased, so did the team.
In 1995, we became a Class 4 MOT Testing Centre, and just three years later we continued our expansion by taking over the Park Garage business when the previous owners decided to emigrate. From 1995 to 1999, we were a Unipart Car Care Centre, receiving accredited awards each year.
Following this success, we were invited by Bosch to take part in a pilot scheme of just eight garages nationwide to trial the Bosch Car Service Network — a real honour. We achieved Bosch Quality Audit Certificates in 2006, 2009, and 2010, and contributed to the growth of what is now a national network of over 500 independent garages.
In early 2014, following the retirement of Tim and Angela, the company was taken over by long-serving technicians Ian Coultas, Stuart Hales, and Steve Burnhill.
Ian brought over 44 years of experience in the motor trade, starting at 16 with a Rover garage where he spent 14 years before joining Tim Allsop’s — where he quickly became part of the furniture. Stuart has over 32 years of experience, beginning with plant machinery, followed by 16 years at Ford (including 7 years in the bodyshop), before joining us in 2004 — where he has matured like a fine wine ever since. Steve joined straight from school in 2004 and spent 10 years as a vehicle technician in the workshop (from boy to man), before moving into the office where he now oversees the day-to-day running of the business — although he still occasionally can’t resist getting his hands dirty.
As part of our continued commitment to customers, we also welcomed Dave Hodges in spring 2014, adding full auto electrical repairs and installations to our services.
On 1st April 2021, Ian retired from the business and is now enjoying a well-earned rest.
